The Set Subject for Prints ‘Patterns in Nature’ and for PDI’s ‘Abandoned’ as chosen by the winners last year.
Jim commented that the standard of the images was high, and that it was important the the technical aspects were correct, but as a judge he wants some emotional impact, so he was looking for quality, good light and a story, but the subject must fit the remit of the competition.
There were 23 prints, and after an initial appraisal Jim had held back 11, this was quickly narrowed down to 6 and then the final 3 :
1st Stephanie Selwyn – Oxidation States of Iron in Rock
2nd Debbie Davies – Brain Food
3rd Malcolm Bowditch – Just Good Fronds
In the projected section there were 28 images, again 11 were held after the first critique and the final placings were :
1st Debbie Davies – Seen Better Days
2nd Debbie Davies – Should have checked Trip Advisor
3rd Howard Westlake – Orodore Nazi Massacre – The Dr’s Car
