Points Cup No 7, Judge : Mr Brian Tarling

The April Points Cup competition saw 34 images for judging by Brian Tarling. The print section was judged first, and after a good critique there were two held back for a second look, a mono and a colour, as it happened, and both achieving the coveted 10 marks. In the Projected Images Brian held four back. Brian was keen to mention that timing, light and subject was what gave the winning images the edge.

Final scores:
Prints :
10 – Malcolm Bowditch – Roman Masonry at Arles, Sally Chaloner – Daffodils
9.5 – David Chaloner – Yellow Hammer, Rachel Cooper – Little Hooter
9 – Jean Bartlett, Ian Ferris x 2

PDI’s :
10 – Stephanie Selwyn -Enjoying This!, Graham Hutton – A Stormy Day, Jean Bartlett – Cape Buffalo and Company
9.5 – Graham Hutton – Between the Engines, Debbie Davies – Black Church Rock, Pat Catley – Forming an Orderly Queue and Silent Hunter, Jean Bartlett – Vantage Point, Bob Harrison – Homemaker
9 – Bob Harrison.

I have been a club member for several years now and find I learn something whichever club event I attend. I enjoy the Studio Group evenings, but equally am happy photographing whatever the surroundings provide at home and out and about.

Hello! I am programme secretary for Weymouth Camera Club. I was wondering if it would be possible for you to pass on my details to Brian Tarling. I am looking for a judge for next year and Brian’s name came up a few times. I’d appreciate your help.

I’ve passed the message to our programme secretary, who should be able to help you.
