The Chairman’s Evening

As per tradition, the season started with The Chairman’s Evening, new in the post, Geoff Killer entertained us with 3 DVD’s of the history surrounding our clubhouse, from the days of the railway running through Blandford, to the renovation of the building. Judging by the images, Health & Safety would have closed the site down, but we appreciate the hard graft that gave us a warm, dry and permanent home for the club.
After the break we had a photographic quiz, the 59 iconic images used in the quiz, certainly gave food for thought, with Geoff asking for dates, titles, photographers, places and/or the incidents that they recorded. Totalling the scores proved Glynis Larter-Whitcher is not only one of our top photographers but would also be a great person to have on your pub quiz team, obviously motivated by the bottle of red, she stormed in with 46 points to win, followed by Jean Bartlett on 42 points… the rest of us mere mortals not passing the 40 barrier.

I have been a club member for several years now and find I learn something whichever club event I attend. I enjoy the Studio Group evenings, but equally am happy photographing whatever the surroundings provide at home and out and about.
