With an array of props and lighting set-ups club members were invited to bring along their camera’s, tripods and a variety of lenses, to a ‘have-a-go’ night.
Members of the studio group were on-hand to help with camera settings, and there were 4 work-stations set up at the beginning, with members encouraged to choose other items to photograph as they pleased.
i) Studio flash with snoot and beauty dish – for macro type images using sea shells and varying the background
ii) Studio flash shooting into a light tent – for shooting a model car or ornaments
iii) LED lights into a flash cube – for any variation of flowers/chocolates
iv) A lightbox – for slivers of fruit
as the evening progressed it was good to see many of the members choosing what else to photograph, a good selection of fruit, vegetables, leaves, feathers, flowers, shells, ornaments were available and people got creative and more confident.
Indoor/Studio photography is not particularly popular within our club, but there was a good turn-out of members willing to give it a go.
It turned out to be quite a social evening with people chatting and helping each other as they worked around the room.
