Getting Warmed
Oct 4th, 2008 by Keith Chaloner
A couple of small but memorable ‘things’ warmed me today on this wet & windy autumn day. The first was a conclusion. We moved the now-completed display panels from the clubhouse to Eric’s garage where they are tucked up safe and warm for the winter. Come to think of it, ‘a small thing‘is hardly the most appropriate description. There is very little that is small about this subject!
A couple of months or so ago, I reported that a number of members were going to tackle the project with completion in a month the ambitious target. Well, in the event, although the main part of the work was carried out in August another few weeks were necessary to wrap it up.
Reporting the fact is the easy part. Properly acknowledging the many hours of careful work that went into the project is less easy. That it all happened so smoothly, with no drama, in such a short time and on budget, is a credit to all those involved. I will mention no names to avoid missing someone….. except for acknowledging the role played by Ken Stevens. Ken accepted the task of coordinating the project and, supported by the others involved, got the job done. Thanks Ken, and the rest, as they say ‘you know who you are’.
The second ‘thing’ was reading a comment prompted by some scribbles of mine under the title ‘Onwards & Upwards’. This was memorable for a number of reasons but most of all because I think it is the first time one of you have responded to the web site in the way we have wished it would be responded to. The site is, of course, a ready source of information about the Club program and events; but more than that it is a medium for sharing thoughts, opinion, ramblings like this; communicating.
It is also a place to share our images. We now have 17 members with about some 300 pictures, I’ve not counted . That is a big improvement on the situation only a few weeks ago. However, some members are shy and are not represented. Some plead lack of time! Come on, if you need more time let me know and I’ll send you some. And where are the slide workers?
But back to the ‘second thing’, isn’t encouragement marvellous? We all need it. So on behalf of those of us who feed www.bfcclub.co.uk from time to time, and enjoy doing it, thanks Colin!
Is there anyone else out there that would like to share a thought or two? It doesn’t have to agree or flatter; it can be (politely) rude or contrary. Don’t all rush at once!
