PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS 5 COURSE
Thursday evenings from 7.00 TO 9.00

SESSION 1. @ Blandford School room 501, 7:00 to 9:00 pm
Preferences: cursors, memory, transparency etc.
Help Files (Tutorial). Quick fix
Explain CD’s and distribute.
Resolution: file sizes for given print sizes
Main Menu file: Open, Save, Import, File Info, Print.
Practicals: Demo CD’s. Explain instead of masses of printed files. Print out what you want.
Adjusting images: cropping, levels.
SESSION 2. @ Blandford School room 501, 7:00 to 9:00 pm
Resolution: scanning, cameras (compression),
Printer requirements, print size, e-mail.
Resample and Constrain Proportions
Main menu: File info, Print.
Edit : Undo, Cut, Copy, Paste.
Practicals: Adjusting images – Colours casts, variations, replacing colour, sponge, dodge, burn.
SESSION 3. @ Blandford School room 501, 7:00 to 9:00 pm
Intro to layers. Principle, layers palette, creation, deleting and movement of layers.
Colour Chart
Brush, pencil
Clone tool
Practicals: Adjusting Images – Clone tool removal of objects
Replacement of sky.
Sharpening
SESSION 4. @ Blandford School room 501, 7:00 to 9:00 pm
Layers continued: linking, flattening, adjustment/movement within each layer.
Text: vectors, simple writing, text style and colour, shaping.
Gradient fill
Practicals: Layers lesson
SESSION 5. @ Blandford School room 501, 7:00 to 9:00 pm
Selections: Marquees, crop tool, lasso, magic wand, selection brush
Undo History, Navigator, Layer effects.
Practicals: Production of Chef face using selected items.

Selections continued: Selection brush showing Mask function
Filters : Artistic, blur, sharpen. Distort, noise (if time permits)
Adobe Gamma: refer to CD instruction
Practicals: Complete Chef and print if possible
Demo Adobe Gamma
