Dionne Horsfall

Profile: My name is actually pronounced Dionne (one of my dear mother's quirks!). I live in West Moors, Ferndown. I am now retired but, during my working life, I never found time for me. I had always been envious of those who seem to be born creative in some art form or another and had always felt it was something I could never even aspire to. Then one day in May 2004 my husband bought me a digital camera and my daughter told me about Photoshop. Bingo! - I found something which really lit my fire! I not only found a way for me to learn something totally new but I found a way to learn to be creative too! At the time I knew absolutely nothing about photography, Photoshop or even computers but I soon became well and truly hooked! There is a lot to learn, whether it is about the art of taking a good photograph or learning new skills in Photoshop, but I am adding to my knowledge nearly every day. There are many ways to progress and add to your knowledge and one of them is finding a friendly and forward looking camera club. I have visited other camera clubs (I even joined one for a year) and, although it is a round trip of around 33 miles for me to attend this one, the first time I walked through the door I knew it was the one for me! If you are keen to learn it is important to not only take photos but to look at the work of others. I joined an Internet site called ePHOTOzine (www.ePHOTOzine.co.uk). Apart from looking at the work of many of the talented photographers on there, I also upload some of my pictures. These can be viewed on http://www.ephotozine.com/u21737 Membership is free, it is very informative and there are many excellent tutorials and forums on there too. Photographers of all experience levels and abilities upload their pictures on there so, if you are just starting out, don’t be shy!
