I have been interested in taking photos from an early age, but did not get involved in the finer techniques of photography until I joined a camera club in my late 30’s. The first club I joined was Wincanton Camera Club and I started to enter competitions. At first this was in slides but later on as I became more competent I started to enter prints, learning a great deal from judges’ comments on how to improve a photograph.
I have just upgraded from a Fuji 6900 to an SLR digital Canon EOS 30D with 17-85mm lens. I also use a 10-22mm and 70-300mm. I try to look for the unusual picture and enjoy all aspects of photography.
I joined Blandford Forum Camera Club in 1998, which I found to be very friendly and welcoming. I started to get more involved in the club by doing the scoring for several years in our regular Points Cup Competition, then I was elected Vice Chairman in 2005 which led to me becoming Chairman in April 2006 to April 2007. I am now Vice Chairman helping our new Chairman out in his first year.
